This month, we are happy to feature Ayesha, Maria and Sana Mirza—three sisters who have been volunteering with us since the summer of 2021! Learn more from their mother Mahjabeen Dawood about how they got involved and what motivates them to continue supporting Kits to Heart!
Kits to Heart: What made your daughters interested in volunteering for Kits to Heart?
Mahjabeen Dawood: We started out with making the handmade journals and friendship bracelets. My girls love arts and crafty things. They were also excited to learn how to make the handmade bears from towels.
KTH: What’s the most special part for your daughters when it comes to volunteering for Kits to Heart?
MD: When the girls learned that the kits were being made for cancer patients, it made then happy that they know that this would cheer a patient's mood and spirits, imagining that big smile on their face when they are receiving their kits.
KTH: What’s a characteristic that you believe is essential for Kits to Heart volunteers?
MD: A positive attitude and a giving attitude is extremely important. It's all about sharing love to others in need of the support.
KTH: What would you say to someone interested in volunteering for Kits to Heart?
MD: We would strongly recommend others who are interested in volunteering for Kits to Heart to do so. You work with friendly and super nice people. Sonia is awesome and my girls love her! You are doing something so caring and helping support and uplift cancer patients' spirits.
