Workshop Overview: Caregivers are invited to meet each Tuesday evening in June to engage in arts-based connection with self-and others who also provide support and care for friends and loved ones with cancer. Participants will be introduced to "response art" as a practice of self-awareness, descriptive voice, and self-reflection using short literary passages as inspiration and simple art materials for expressive rendering. After art-making, group discussion provides an opportunity for sharing insights and mindful strategies for here-and-now wellness. Art therapist Connie Zabokrtsky creates a casual, conversational setting for caregivers to release and reset. No experience with art tools or materials is needed.

Session Overview: Each session includes a check-in, brief guided mind-body connection breath work, an art-making prompt, time for rendering, and group discussion.

Suggested Materials: Water soluble oil pastels, chalk pastel, brushes, Bristol paper, glue dots, black Sharpie, graphite pencil, and (please provide your own) scissors. If you’d like to work with collage scrap, please have source material and adhesive on hand. Please see the Amazon list for direct links.

Materials and technique demonstration will be provided, as needed.

Weekly Experientials:
Participants are free to self-select art medium from their supplies and/or their own favorites for rendering during each session.
