Art for Cancer Wellness: Patients Group, Spring 2026

Workshop Title: Peer-Led Expressive Writing & Reflection Workshop
Facilitator:
Anne Bouchard
Schedule: Mondays, 7 PM to 8 PM ET

  • March 9
  • April 6
  • May 18

Workshop Description: In this peer-led workshop, participants will be guided through a gentle meditation to set an intention for our time together. They will be invited to choose a word or phrase that feels meaningful to them. Participants may also select a color or combination of colors to help express the mood or emotion connected to that word. Using this creative foundation, participants will write either a letter of support or encouragement to a fellow patient, or a reflective letter to themselves in honor of how far they have come on their journey.

About the Facilitator: Anne Bouchard has been a longtime volunteer writer and well-wisher with Kits to Heart, creating cards and writing heartfelt messages of hope for care kit clients. She is honored to help facilitate our peer-led sessions. Her sessions focus on self-compassion and gentle self-expression, offering participants a supportive space to freely express and release emotions while finding comfort and connection through this creative process. Anne is an active student of oil painting and regularly exhibits her works with other members of the Montgomery Art Association in Maryland. Through her use of visual arts and journaling, she believes individuals can better understand and process emotions and discover new ways of coping.

Workshop Materials: Participants may use any art materials of their choosing (drawing materials, painting materials, mixed media, collage) and any surface for art journaling (sketchbook, paper, canvas, etc.).
