Help provide warmth, comfort, and dignity to adults affected by cancer by creating thoughtfully made crochet or knit hats. These hats are especially meaningful during hospital visits, treatment sessions, and colder weather. Lightweight bucket hats for warmer months are also welcome.
Project Guidelines
We are looking for comfortable, unisex adult hats that are soft, breathable, and made with care. Each hat should:
- Fit an adult head circumference of 21β23 inches
- Be designed for adult cancer patients only (no childrenβs or baby hats)
- Be comfortable, non-irritating, and suitable for sensitive skin
- Be securely finished with no loose ends
Comfort & Safety Standards (Knots of Love Guidelines)
To ensure comfort for patients undergoing treatment, please follow these best practices:
- Thin, seamless, and non-lumpy beanies are preferred
- Avoid see-through stitches (patients should not be able to see scalp through the hat)
- Use yarn that is fragrance-free, smoke-free, and free of pet dander
- Ensure all yarn ends are tightly secured and not visible
- Wash and fully dry finished hats before packaging (do not use dryer sheets, as they may irritate sensitive skin)
- Pack hats in a clean bag or box before submission (one container is sufficient for all items)
