Workshop Description: This spring workshop series of six biweekly art therapy sessions facilitated by art therapist Em Jones, MA, LCPAT, ATR-P, invites participants to practice Mindful Art Journaling. A guided visualization and breathwork practice will be used each week to support imagination and help participants tap into their creativity and self-expression. This arts-based therapy group aims to help participants release, reset, and recharge by reconnecting with mind and body, holding space for feelings, giving form to emotions, practicing mindfulness, and connecting with each other in a creative and healing virtual group atmosphere.
This group aims to “meet you where you’re at” by helping participants work with the feelings that are most present and pressing for them at the time of the session, though there will be an “emotion of focus” each week for folks who need more guidance.
No prior art experience is required for this group—participants are encouraged to work within their own comfort and skill level. Please be mindful that this is an art therapy group, not an art class, and is designed as a supportive group with creative therapeutic processing.
Workshop Materials: Participants may use any art materials of their choosing (drawing materials, painting materials, mixed media, collage) and any surface for art journaling (sketchbook, paper, canvas, altered book, etc.). Recommended materials include:
- Mixed media sketchbook
- Magazines and collage materials (e.g., tissue paper)
- Assorted art materials:
- Glue stick

- Lined journal for writing
Materials may be available upon request with AT LEAST two weeks' notice before the group starts. Please email art@kitstoheart.org with the specific materials you would like to receive.
Week-by-Week Overview: Each workshop session will be structured as follows: check-in, review of theme & mindful journaling process, intro breathwork/visualization, artmaking, breathwork/visualization, closing art/writing, group discussion, closing.
